The Office of Public Information coordinates the communication of information for the
county government and promotes community relations and volunteerism.
The
Public Information Office responds to requests for information from the news media, produces news
releases and other informational brochures, and other publications; manages the content of
the Loudoun County website; assists other county departments and agencies in developing
and carrying out public information strategies; coordinates internal communication
within the county government; and oversees Loudoun County's cable
television and open video system franchises.
The Community Relations program conducts community outreach activities and promotes
volunteerism through the recruitment and placement of volunteers and the management of
such programs as
Leadership Loudoun,
the Volunteer Services program, and a Speakers
Bureau.
The Public Information Office administers the county’s cable
television and open video system (OVS) franchises, and provides staff support to the
Cable & Open
Video Systems Commission.
Loudoun currently has two cable television
providers --
Comcast
and Verizon,
each of which holds a non-exclusive franchise with the
county. The county's franchise agreements with Comcast and Verizon are
online. They are in a .pdf format and require Adobe Acrobat Reader,
which may be downloaded for free below:
Comcast has offices in Leesburg at 208 South King Street, and in
Ashburn at 21730 Red Rum Road. Comcast can be reached by calling
toll free 1-800-COMCAST (1-800-266-2278). The local Public Access telephone
number is 571-223-1355.
The customer service number for Verizon's FiOS cable
television service is 1-888-553-1555.
OpenBand has a franchise to provide OVS service in
Lansdowne and part of Broadlands. OpenBand's customer
service telephone number is 866-673-6226 or 703-961-1110.
OpenBand customers should receive a trouble ticket number
when they call customer service or complete a trouble ticket
online. To complete a trouble ticket online, OpenBand
customers may go to
www.openband.net, login to their own customer care
account, click on the Support tab, and click on the link
"Submit New Problem."
The Public Information Office offers assistance to cable
and OVS subscribers who have experienced ongoing problems with the cable
or OVS company. Consumers may call the Loudoun County cable hotline at 703-777-0218 to report complaints.
