The Office of Public Information coordinates the communication of information for the county government and promotes community relations and volunteerism.

The Public Information Office responds to requests for information from the news media, produces news releases and other informational brochures, and other publications; manages the content of the Loudoun County website; assists other county departments and agencies in developing and carrying out public information strategies; coordinates internal communication within the county government; and oversees Loudoun County's cable television and open video system franchises.

The Community Relations program conducts community outreach activities and promotes volunteerism through the recruitment and placement of volunteers and the management of such programs as Leadership Loudoun, the Volunteer Services program, and a Speakers Bureau.

Cable Television and OVS Administration

The Public Information Office administers the county’s cable television and open video system (OVS) franchises, and provides staff support to the Cable & Open Video Systems Commission.

Loudoun currently has two cable television providers -- Comcast and Verizon, each of which holds a non-exclusive franchise with the county. The county's franchise agreements with Comcast and Verizon are online. They are in a .pdf format and require Adobe Acrobat Reader, which may be downloaded for free below:

Comcast has offices in Leesburg at 208 South King Street, and in Ashburn at 21730 Red Rum Road. Comcast can be reached by calling toll free 1-800-COMCAST (1-800-266-2278). The local Public Access telephone number is 571-223-1355.

The customer service number for Verizon's FiOS cable television service is 1-888-553-1555.

OpenBand has a franchise to provide OVS service in Lansdowne and part of Broadlands. OpenBand's customer service telephone number is 866-673-6226 or 703-961-1110. OpenBand customers should receive a trouble ticket number when they call customer service or complete a trouble ticket online. To complete a trouble ticket online, OpenBand customers may go to www.openband.net, login to their own customer care account, click on the Support tab, and click on the link "Submit New Problem."

The Public Information Office offers assistance to cable and OVS subscribers who have experienced ongoing problems with the cable or OVS company. Consumers may call the Loudoun County cable hotline at 703-777-0218 to report complaints.
