  1. Homer Price takes place around the 1940s in America (over 60 years ago). Some things in the story are out of date, and some things are still around (although a little different).   3. Homer Price makes reference to a book called The Odyssey (sometimes called Ulysses) by a poet named Homer. It's about a journey that a man takes to get back home where his wife is waiting for him. Here are some scenes that are similar in the book; see if you remember which matches:
    While Ulysses is away from home, his wife, Penelope, has to push away suitors — men who are trying to marry her.
    When Ulysses sails by a group of singing villains (called Sirens), he has his men stuff wax in their ears, so that they won't hear the sound.
