Economic Development Commission
Established in 1995 by Loudoun County's Board of
Supervisors, the Economic
Development Commission (EDC) is a public/private
partnership responsible for promoting Loudoun's economic
development. The EDC serves as a forum through which
business and government leaders meet to exchange ideas and
experiences about business growth in the county.
The Loudoun County Rural Economic Development
Council (REDC) was created by the Board of
Supervisors in 2000 to promote the economic growth and
vitality of Loudoun County’s agricultural, horticultural,
and equine industries, and to provide advice and
recommendations to the Board relative to Loudoun's rural
economy. In addition, the REDC coordinates the rural
economic development, marketing, and promotion activities
among the several public and private groups engaged in such
activities throughout the county and works closely with the
County's Department of Economic Development.
The Agricultural District Advisory Committee makes
recommendations to the Planning Commission regarding new agricultural districts,
renewal of existing districts, additions to districts and
withdrawals from districts. This committee renders expert
advice as to the nature of farming and forestry and
agricultural and forestal resources within
the district and their relation to the entire locality.
To
complement Loudoun’s great natural
beauty, and to reinforce its sense of
place, identity, and community, the
Loudoun County Design Cabinet aims to
encourage the highest quality physical
design including urban, architectural,
landscape, and ecological design. To
assist the Department of Economic
Development, the Cabinet provides a
forum for discussion and advice on
design related issues, projects, and
opportunities. A volunteer group of
architects and urban designers, the
Cabinet may also undertake special
design related projects that provide
significant community benefit.
The Loudoun County Science
and Technology Cabinet
serves as
the community's key forum to encourage the development of
Loudoun County and the region as a global center of
science and technology. The Cabinet undertakes or supports
special projects that contribute significantly to this goal,
and provides
advice to the Loudoun County Department of Economic
Development and, when appropriate, to local and regional partners.
