- As one of the fastest growing
jurisdictions in the Washington, D.C. region, Loudoun
County serves as a key player in the area's
prosperity. The region's 5 million residents
represent a tremendous market and provide a residential
and employment base that is among the strongest in the
nations in terms of purchasing power and technical skills.
Loudoun County residents
have always demanded the best from our public school system,
and the school system in turn has consistently delivered:
SAT scores well above state and national averages, 87%
of our graduates continuing their formal education, with 80%
going on to college.
Community-oriented
elementary schools are the entry point to our system for
children in grades K-5. Middle schools for grades 6-8
and high schools for grades 9-12 serve our older
students.

Loudoun County, Virginia is fortunate to
have a variety of very accessible and well-known Universities
and Colleges all located on Route 7, creating a
higher education corridor for Virginia. These institutions
offer undergraduate and graduate degrees, certificates,
specialized training, and research opportunities either on
their campuses or onsite at business and corporate locations.
These schools offer evening and weekend class times geared for
working professionals, and many also offer courses online or
via satellite.
Furthermore, Loudoun County is distinctive in
that its educational leaders are willing to work together.
Through the efforts of the Loudoun County Economic Development
Commission's Education and Workforce Committee, local college
and university deans and directors strive to develop programs
at their respective schools that will complete or complement
the programs of others in the county. As a result, the
citizens of Loudoun County benefit from the greater
educational opportunities provided through this important
cooperative effort.
